Electromagnetic Drum Brakes
Electromagnetic Drum Brakes
Engineered for Heavy Industrial Applications
Operating Principles
- Spring Applied braking system.
- Brake release via Electromagnetic Actuator.
- Adjustable braking torque for optimum performance.
Construction
- Laterally positioned brake spring and brake lifter.
- Brake shoe lifter with single web construction.
- Synchronous releasing mechanism.
Key Features
- Fully complies with DIN 15435, ensuring complete interchangeability.
- High braking torque independent of rotation direction through optimised lever geometry.
- Excellent lateral stability provided by the widened brake shoe lever base.
- Self-adjusting constant brake lining clearance through synchronous releasing mechanism.
- Low-stress tension bar design for increased operational safety.
- Protected tension bar threads allow simple adjustment under harsh operating conditions.
- Electroplated steel bolts and boxed bearings provide increased reliability and longer service life.
- Galvanized standard components for superior corrosion protection.
- Enclosed spring tube protects the brake spring from damage.
- Easy braking torque adjustment with a clear torque scale.
- Brake shoes can be replaced without dismantling the brake.
- Light alloy brake shoes fitted with steel bushes according to DIN 15435.
- Bonded brake linings with a friction coefficient of 0.4.
- Standard finish in Pacific Blue.
Electrical Options
Brake units are supplied with a standard Silicon Rectifier Attachment. Units are also available with built-in silicon rectifiers suitable for direct 380V or 525V AC three-phase supplies. Brake operating coils are wound for 168V DC and 220V DC respectively.
Optional Force Voltage Silicon Rectifier Attachments supply the brake with its nominal DC operating voltage for a short period, reducing normal brake release time by approximately 40%.
